Publisher Description
In the world of strength and conditioning, learning how to move others not just physically, but also psychologically and emotionally is paramount to getting the most out of them. People are the ultimate performance variable, and understanding how to effectively blend knowledge of proper training with the nuances of human behavior is integral to helping athletes achieve their ultimate goals. Unfortunately, while much attention has been given to the science of physical training, little attention has been given to the science of communication.
Conscious Coaching: The Art and Science of Building Buy-In bridges this gap. Listeners learn the foundational principles of improving relationships, enhancing engagement, and gaining the trust of athletes through targeted communication. And, every bit as important, listeners also learn concrete strategies to apply these principles in day-to-day coaching situations they will inevitably encounter.
The result is a game-changing book that has been used by professional sports teams, Fortune 500 companies, Universities, multinational coaching organizations and the United States Special Forces that sets the stage for coaches and leaders of all kinds to create a culture of success not only within sport, but also beyond. Conscious Coaching is a movement and its time has come.
Customer Reviews
Should have purchased the book
After listening to the first couple of chapters, I realized if I want to retain good information, I need to read it. Lots of great things he has to say which is why I tried looking for a way to pay the difference and get the actual book to read. I just can’t take the voice! Lol I feel so bad but the voice reading the book doesn’t reel me in to continue listening. Online they only have ways to turn e-books into audio but no other way around... anyone know how to do this?
Authentic & Versatile For Any Coach
Each book, I look for 1 thing to take away that could be applicable to coaching. With Conscious Coaching - there were many too choose from - the overarching concept that resonated most with me was valuing authenticity.
The words read with a palpable feeling of raw detail from experience. The author Brett Bartholomew does a really good job providing context with concept via anecdotes or relatable examples from direct experiences. As a coach, I can appreciate the scientific approach with the understanding that actual development often goes beyond what we know, rather how we can best identify, empathize, and value those with whom we try develop. The methodology within the text with storytelling to support provides an easy read with substance for any coach looking to make an impact!
An excellent read for strength coaches
We used this as a part of our staff reading list for an upcoming seminar we are hosting. The coaches have been able to learn from Coach B’s lessons and apply them directly to their work.
