Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

Praise for Daisy Jones & The Six
“Daisy Jones & The Six is just plain fun from cover to cover. . . . Her characters feel so vividly real, you’ll wish you could stream their albums, YouTube their concerts, and google their wildest moments to see them for yourself.”—HelloGiggles
“Reid delivers a stunning story of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll in the 1960s and ’70s in this expertly wrought novel. Mimicking the style and substance of a tell-all celebrity memoir . . . Reid creates both story line and character gold. The book’s prose is propulsive, original, and often raw.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Trying to one-up the audacious lives of ’70s rock stars isn’t easy, but Taylor Jenkins Reid has created a charismatic band that lives just as hard as the real ones. Rockers Daisy Jones & The Six explode onto L.A.’s hip, debauched music scene before imploding just as dramatically. Framed as an oral history, Reid’s novel is a lot of fun, but the audiobook is a bona fide party—it’s read by 21 actors, including Jennifer Beals and Pablo Schreiber as star-crossed bandmates Daisy and Billy. This sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll story is as fun and juicy as a Behind the Music episode.
Customer Reviews
Wow.
I am going to start by saying that if you want to read this book, listen to the audiobook. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did listening to it. The voices fit the characters too. This is a book that I judged it by its plot and cover. But…. It did not disappoint. I wish I would have listened to it sooner. This is a book that is entertaining but is also informative of the lifestyle of someone who lives/lived this kind of lifestyle. And it was just raw and beautiful. I gotta say though, every person on this book was just…. So selfish. The people who weren’t were the ones that usually got their heart broken (Camila, and Graham). That’s just my pov. Overall, it was a GREAT story, told in the best way.
5 Stars!
Love this book! It’s everything you’d want in a Rolling Stones iconic rock band memoir. Daisy Jones is (I imagine) Joni Mitchell meets Karen Carpenter meets Twiggy. She and Billy Dunn are every Rick icon you root for. They are fun; they are rock & roll; they are also deeply real and complex/human characters with a full range of emotions, including grit, vulnerability, endurance, & love. The novel builds and evolves and just keeps getting better every step along the way. What starts out as a light & fun rock & roll piece develops into a deep and meaningful expose of human life. 5 stars!

I’m trying to figure out exactly why my partner and I disliked this audio book. Had such high hopes after reading all the reviews. The main narrator sounds like The voice of Siri and the only narrator worth listening to is Jennifer Beals. The story, what we got through, was hollow and one dimensional and frankly boring. We chose to shut it off and drive the last hour and a half of our drive in silence, or announcing our names in a robot voice before we would speak… like the audiobook. Which was pretty funny.
