Play with fire; you’ll get burned.
Play with me; I’ll get even.
Dynasty came roaring into my life, bringing four of the most incredibly delicious men I’ve ever laid my eyes on, but along with it came a life that I was never expecting.
This world is filled with corruption. There are secrets and lies around every corner. My parents were murdered by the very men who vowed their loyalty, and now those same men are after me and will stop at nothing.
But the tables have turned.
Dynasty is all mine and I’m going to burn this f--ker down.
Forgive me, father, for I am about to sin.
A legend in the making...
Gets off to a very dramatic start and having missed book 1, I do feel a little bit lost but the author does a good job of showing so I can pretty much catch up (I think) for the most part, quickly.
The relationships are still sorta forming / working out their kinks / developing, etc. so romance-wise, you can come in late like I did, though it’s not optimal. Suspense-y / action-y / crime family-wise, I think I’ve got the gist of it, and find it exciting. And at about 32 chapters in, Winter/Elodie catches her bestie up on (at least some of) book 1’s events, filling me in what I think is pretty much the rest of what I need to know.
Anne packs in so many juicy tropes / aspects /etc., I’ll do my best to list them:
🔪 Rival families.
🔪 Mafia / crime family vibes.
🔪 Spicy YA (heroine is 18) / NA (heroes are a bit older).
⛓️ So many scandals.
🔪 Many, many steamy scenes, some of which are in ‘inappropriate’ places. Fun & age-appropriate when I remember these are teenagers.
⛓️ Broken heroine / heroes.
🔪 Strong girl-bestie!
⛓️ Very strong FMC. Epic.
🔪 Mass chaos.
Winter / Elodie is very wise beyond her years—at times I had a little trouble picturing an 18 year-old saying some of the things she did … but then having missed book 1, I’m going to assume she didn’t live an easy life and had to grow up fast—which would make this plausible.
I did predict this one’s ending pretty exactly—feeling like I have a feel for this author’s style after binge-reading another series of hers. But it’s a good style, no complaints whatsoever. Overall:

This is a perfect specimen, as far as audiobooks go. High-quality sound overall, and a narrator who performs it well and makes it feel like a full cast. 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
