Psycho heroine much?
Okay...in theory, I like the plot...time traveling hunky warriors that want to save innocents infused with hot sex. BUT the heroine is just ridiculously flighty and stupid. Overemotional and filled with some kind of misplaced superiority that actually makes her seem even more idiotic. The narrator is pretty annoying too, so it doesn't help with the overemotional and illogical heroine.
The worst heroine ever
This is the worst book I have ever listened too. The heroine is petty, dumb, spitfull, weak and only things she thinks about the next time she will have sex with the hero. I have never read a more 2 dimensional charactor. The only strong female in this story is Subula and she is the bad guy. Claire is transported to middle age Scottland and all she can think about is whether the hero likes her. The story line would be great if the heroine was somewhat complicated. But no, she exibites the worst traits we females have. She has no likible quailties at all. She is only nice to the men, but treats other females like dirt. This is the first Brenda Joyce book I have listen too and it will be my last. If you want a good read, anything from Sandra Brown, Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Julia Quinn and Janet Evanovich.
Awful!
I took a chance on this book because the author's name was remotely familiar. What a mistake.
The story;Claire's safe little world is disrupted when an ancient Highland warrior, a member of the secret order, the Masters of Time, steps into her life seeking a powerful page that might be in her bookshop. Malcolm carries her back to his time, nearly six centuries into the past.
Claire was far too annoying and stupid to live for my tastes. She's so shrewish that I suspect even a god couldn't love her. She was melodramatic, whiney, petty, hysterical and had a snotty attitude through most of the book. She cries foul and berates Malcolm for seducing her, after wholeheartedly giving in to her own lust for him. She acts like a ninny without fail, making groundless assumptions, and arguing in the silliest way while claiming that she is an independent and intelligent woman.
She supposedly runs, lifts weights, learns self defense and kick-boxing, target shoots with her beretta. She keeps mace AND pepperspray AND a taser handy, in case the gun isn't enough. Nevertheless, she's easily disarmed by a woman burglar. Later, said burglar comments on how she looked through EVERY PAGE in the book store while Claire was passed out for several hours. She also gets physically abusive with Malcolm (the love interest/protagonist) but is only capable of beating weakly and timidly on his exposed chest.
I don't think I have ever read a book with such an unlikable, irritating character.
