Publisher Description
On December 7, 1941, as the great battleships Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah lie paralyzed and burning in the aftermath of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. A crack team of U.S. Navy salvage divers headed by Edward C. Raymer are hurriedly flown to Oahu from the mainland. Their two-part orders are direct and straightforward: (1) rescue as many trapped sailors and Marines as possible, and (2) resurrect what remains of America's once mighty pacific fleet. Descent Into Darkness tells their story.
Customer Reviews
An amazing and unheralded tale!
The story of this WW2 hero and his comrades was absolutely fascinating. Their role in the war effort is one that is often overlooked by the public.
But the dangers they faced day in and day out with the stellar results they achieved deserves to be recognized for the amazing feat that it was.
I would recommend 100%.
This is no romance novel
This is a ‘boots on the deck’ gritty accounting of what our real Navy Divers dealt with in the wake of the attack on Pearl Harbor. From the opening scene and all the way through. Imaging the guts it took to enter a sunken vessel, spilt fuel oil in every compartment and air pocket, and their only source of light is a live flame sealed kerosene lamp.
Awesome!!!
Really good and interesting story!! I highly recommend
