I have nothing left.

One moment of weakness seven years ago, and I lost my job, my art, and my only friend. Now I’m working nights at a gas station to scrape together a living and a way to care for my sister, and I’m completely alone.

And then I see him on the front page of the newspaper, my former college student and the man who ruined my life seven years ago.

Ryan Bell.

So I carve a statue of the devil and I give the devil Bell’s face. I leave it for the world to see.

I shouldn’t have done it. I should have known he’d use the statue to hunt me, find me, offer a deal that demands my soul. He wants one year of me—all of me—and then he’ll make my problems go away.

How can I refuse? When it’s my only chance of salvation? How can I refuse even when I know Ryan Bell will leave me with a broken heart—again?

But it’s my own fault…I should have stayed hidden, I shouldn’t have revealed how the memory of him haunts me still. I was the one who spoke of the devil, after all.

I can’t be surprised that he appeared.

Sierra bleeping Simone does it again! Love this book!!!!

Sierra Simone hits the mark every time. The spice is definitely spicing, but what really sets her apart is how deeply she pulls you into the leads' heads. Through their POVs, you don't just watch the story unfold—you feel completely sucked into their world, their motives, and their emotions.

High spice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book is my favorite in the series! He is not a good man but it is hot in the best way. His obsession with her will unravel you. The narrators are perfect!

Wildest Ride of Any Book All Year

The content warning on this was intense, but necessary. I dove in knowing Ryan Bell was a monster, but quickly grew to love him. In fact, he’s actually an antihero as opposed to a villain. He’s not as evil as he makes himself out to be, either. I think all of his older brothers and his parents did instil goodness in him. He’s just really good at burying it. He’s still not IRL boyfriend material, but he is perfect for Birdie.

Birdie was so relatable to me. This is honestly the part that made this book really hurt in places. It was worth continuing for that ending. They both definitely have their problems, and seriously, another memo needs to be sent out that kinks are no big deal. The shame she carried around is insane. I absolutely hate her so-called friend treated her. Like Ryan, I wish she had actually paid for that. I will not be forgiving her anytime soon.

Simone said this was the least religious of the series, but it felt very religious to me - maybe that is because Birdie’s religious trauma is almost identical to my religious trauma. I’m not sure, but I was rolling my eyes at parts of this. “I didn’t pray once the entire time I was being accused of SA while I wad the actual victim of SA” was just a league too far for me.

Father Jordan is getting a book next, now that we are out of Bell Brothers to read about. Saint has already been taken as a title in this series. Maybe it will be called Mystic or something. I’ve already got so many ideas of how typically Jordan this story could go. She should have waited to tell me about this book until she was already done. If she gets writer’s block, I’d be happy to give her some comedic, Father Jordan brand relief.
