The New York Times Bestseller
Fear. Grief. Loss. Betrayal. Rachel Hollis has felt all those things, and she knows you have too. Now, she takes you to the other side.
With her signature humor, heartfelt honesty, and intimate true-life stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hollis shows readers how to seize difficult moments for the learning experiences they are and the value and growth they provide.
Rachel Hollis sees you. As the millions who read her #1 New York Times bestsellers Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing, attend her RISE conferences and follow her on social media know, she also wants to see you transform.
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.
To Rachel, a life well-lived is one of purpose, focused only on the essentials. This is a small book about big feelings: inspirational, aspirational, and an anchor that shows that darkness can co-exist with the beautiful.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
There’s never a good time for a marriage to fall apart, but during a global pandemic might be particularly bad. Just ask self-help guru and social-media superstar Rachel Hollis, whose separation from her husband of 16 years happened in the first months of her state’s stay-at-home orders. While Hollis’ previous books touch upon her past pain and trauma (always with a dose of her trademark faith and humor), this memoir gets deeper—and a little darker—than ever before. She narrates the audiobook herself, getting personal as she discusses pandemic grief, binge eating, adoption, and childbirth. The world can definitely be unpredictable, but like a best friend who tells it exactly like it is, Hollis encourages us through her heart-wrenching and hilarious anecdotes to live fully in the present. Didn’t See That Coming is a great reminder that even at its most challenging, life can still be pretty sweet.

Struggled listening
I struggled listening to this one and I love all her books. I’m not sure what about it was bothering me either. Maybe just the circumstances
No thanks!
For the simple fact that I was looking up Christian self-help books, and this was recommended is very disappointing. I choose not to use profanity, and I certainly don’t want to listen to it or read it in a book. It was a waste of $15.
This book was a EXCELLENT read!!
Great read!!
I would definitely recommend it. If the book wasn’t good to you, it’s ok to say it wasn’t good to you, and leave it at “that book wasn’t for me”.
However the mean comments totally unnecessary and maybe it wasn’t the book.
