Dragonflight
Dragonflight was one of the first books I read of Anne McCaffrey's and it would be a lie to say that she isn't the master writer critics claim her to be. In this book she created a world beyound anything I had ever experienced and characters that a reader can feel the personality of. Ms McCaffrey uses a simple language to weave a wonderful story and I find myself aspiring to be a skillful writer like her one day.
One of the best books I've ever read
I originally read this in the seventh grade, after happening to see the cover and think "a dragon, that's interesting looking." So it was the cover art that drew me in. The book itself, however, is even more masterful. It may not seem like science fiction, but if you keep to the series you'll see where that eventually comes into play. That aside, the dragons and their riders are really the focus of this book. The characters really seem to jump off the page, and the situations are believable. I recommend it to anyone, even if they don't traditionally like books of this genre. Give it a couple of chapters, and you'll be sucked in.

Thank goodness I can now have the books that I have loved and read for over three decades everywhere I go! The McCaffreys are a talented clan, thank goodness! I fell in love with F'lar and Lessa so long ago they feel like old friends and love to go back and visit whenever time allows. I will be adding more of their stories to my IPod ASAP!
