Publisher Description

Now the people know that the dragon minions of Takhisis, Queen of Dragons, have returned. The people of all nations prepare to fight to save their homes, their lives, and their freedom. But the races have long been divided by hatred and prejudice. Elven warriors and human knights fight among themselves. It seems the battle has been lost before it begins.

The companions are separated, torn apart by war. A full season will pass before they meet again - if they meet again. As the darkness deepens, a disgraced knight, a pampered elf maiden, and a rattle-brained kender stand alone in the pale winter sunlight.

Not much in the way of heroes.

Chronicles & Legends

This review covers Chronicles and Legends because most people interested in buying this series want at least those 6-7 books. I do not review the books, only Audible's product.

Ax Norman - thankfully - no longer reads Chronicles. At some point in 2018, possibly early 2019, Chronicles was rerecorded with Paul Boehmer. Disregard any review before that point for Chronicles.

Boehmer is well above average, especially considering how difficult Dragonlance is to do. If you need someone to voice a dragon, a kender, a gnome and an elven princess (to say nothing of the rest) you're either going to want Harry Shear (who gets about a half-million per episode of the simpsons) or you're going to have to get a jack-of-many-trades-and-master-of-none. Considering this, Boehmer is simply outstanding, going well beyond what I could've hoped for.

But the Legends trilogy, as of this writing, is still read by Ax Norman. He is appalling. Outside of doing commercials for Doublemint gum, I'm not sure what merits his voice has. He does no character voices; everybody sounds exactly the same which can be confusing. He mispronounces names, and worst of all he sounds like he's reading it for the first time, pausing at the end of a line in the text rather than at the designated punctuation.

I've never met a Dragonlance fan who didn't think the Legends trilogy was as good as Dragonlance got. But Audible probably figures fixing Chronicles was 'good enough'.

DO NOT BUY LEGENDS AS L0NG AS IT'S AX NORMAN.

Book is Awesome but one chapter is missing and one is done twice by two people.

Horrible narrator and NOT what I purchased!

I’m miffed, I originally purchased these books years ago. The narrator was Ax Norman. But when I try to download them to re listen to them again, it’s this Paul Boehmer, who is simply horrible.

Luckily I still had it loaded on my old iPod, but I truly hope they can fix this, it isn’t what I paid for!!!!
