Bono met his wife in high school, Park says.
So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be, she says, we’re 16.
What about Romeo and Juliet?
Shallow, confused, then dead.

I love you, Park says.
Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers.
I’m not kidding, he says.
You should be.

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love—and just how hard it pulled you under.

I want more!!

You know that feeling when you want more book but know that there’s not much more to write? That’s the feeling I got from this book. Rainbow Rowell is a fantastic author and I’d highly recommend ANY of their books (I’ve read literally all of them)

Nostalgically wonderful

This audiobook is a treasure and a must-listen! Two narrators (one reading for Eleanor passages, and a second reading for Park’s passages) were perfection in their cadence and delivery. The storyline was so authentic and familiar to the highs and lows of my high school years growing up in the 80s and 90s. The cassette mix tapes really took me back in the best way possible. Seriously, there needs to be an Eleanor & Park soundtrack for all the amazing music references:) I often found myself walking around with a huge, stupid grin as I listened, and vividly remembered that wonderful, euphoric rush of teenage love (I had my headphones in while running errands and I must have looked like a crazy person, I was smiling so hard). Then, straight up crying as I related to the sadder parts of the storyline: how it felt to have to hide an abusive home life and a helpless situation, as well as the relief that came from escaping to school each day and a social life to distract and distance myself from the chaos at home. I originally borrowed the audiobook from my library. It was so good I went and bought the hardcover book version as well as the audiobook, so I can listen to it again and again.
