#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • For her entire adult life, Oprah Winfrey has struggled with her weight. She never thought in her lifetime, medicines would provide hope, health, and healing for people like her. But as her conversations with Dr. Ania Jastreboff from the Yale School of Medicine reveal, we’ve learned that having obesity is not a choice. It’s not a question of willpower.

Obesity is a disease.

It’s a question of biology, created by our bodies’ need to survive and the environment we created and now live in.

And it’s treatable.

The new medications can lower our body fat set point (our brain’s “Enough Point”), so that we lose weight without battling biology with willpower. Dr. Jastreboff describes strategies to optimize health and manage side effects all with the reassuring perspective of decades of experience treating patients with obesity and leading studies with these medications.

Many of her patients say the “food noise” that plagued them for years has evaporated. They describe a new freedom from intrusive, persistent, and disruptive thoughts about food. With treatment they begin a journey of healing with self-compassion, devoid of the shame and blame they’ve endured from society for decades.

Oprah says she’s learned so much from Dr. Jastreboff about how, when it comes to weight, our bodies work with us—and also against us. How each of our struggles are different and each of our choices in living with obesity may also be different.

Dr. Jastreboff’s groundbreaking research offers a new way forward, not only for obesity treatment, but also for overall health, with significant implications for the prevention and reversal of hundreds of related diseases. As she demonstrates in this book, when science meets empathy, real healing becomes possible.

Yes, there is a path to healing and leading the life you have always wanted, when your brain is reassured that you have “enough.”

The YO-YO is over. Must read, life changer

Essential must read. If you’re someone who has yo yo’d back and forth with your weight or been interested particularly in the topic of keeping the weight off, but struggled too (so few books discuss this) this is an essential book in understanding why.

Whether you’ve never taken GLP-1 and want to learn or you’re someone that’s far along with it and been using it this books is worth reading.

The book gives you permission to acknowledge something you may not even realize about your own personal weight experience it’s not your fault. I still struggle with this, but our mind and bodies biology actually fights to protect us from loosing a certain amount of weight and keeping it off. And now it is as easy to loose and keep the weight off as it was to gain.

Highly recommended this book to actually learn and be educated about the disease of obesity in our society and obesigenic environment. You may already know you have high food noise or not even realize like many of us you have it and that other people have hardly any food noise in comparison.

The book is easy to understand, but has enough science that I am reading it a second time to understand it all. It discusses the past, present and future of obesity in a clear and concise manner with many nuggets of information that even a well versed individual will find interesting. For example, you will learn about how the Arizona based gila lizard who eats only 4-5 times a year helped in a big way with how GLP -1 medications are implemented. Or why in 1994 the discovery of the Leptin hormone played a critical role in leading to understanding what happens in our mind and bodies after we loose a certain amount of weight. It also provides example of Dr. Ania work with patients and their stories that have a wide variety of different experiences that make it easy to relate too. Oprah adds to these experiences in a real way that is commendable.

You’ll find similarities in you yourself nodding in agreement with these experiences or understanding better you’re family members and friends in these tales that are deeply personal and also real accounts of what life is like being overweight in society which 2/3 of Americans suffer from today and nearly 50% of the country is considered obese so it affects many of us and it’s been far too long to sweep these stories and conversations under the rug anymore.

A book like this should be considered very strongly to read if you know someone or you yourself want to learn about what it is you may be going through and that you’re not alone and that there are solutions for the first time in our history.

Quite frankly, this book will be a godsend to many who are at the very least starting in a new direction or people who are unsure of, scared of, or more excited about. Maybe all of the above!

I am reading this for the second time already because there is so much information that is helpful in so many ways.

Finally, Thank you to everyone involved with this book. You are giving my mind and body more than you could possibly imagine.

Patience ,you’ve waited this long

Very informative about GLP 1s and how to manage and what to expect. Everyone is different their experiences are unique. But it all comes to fruition to lose the weight that weighs you down emotionally and physically.

Too much Science.

I wanted to love this book. Made it through chapter 3, and was way too boring. I would have rather listened to Oprah more and less of the doctor. Just way too much science that was way too in depth for the average person. Couldn’t hold my interest.
