YA catch
Riley and Zeke grew up together and shared a love with for many things. The main one was Riley’s twin brother who both had a bond with. They both felt they owed their lives to. Riley played football in honor of her twin brother’s injury that left him paralyzed and Zeke felt a sense of guilt because he helped cause it. Riley always blamed Zeke for this. Once they graduated and went off to college they are playing for the same team and now tensions high and also feelings. This was an extremely slow burn romance for me. The character development was great and I really enjoyed that, I would have loved to have seen them together more. Once they were their chemistry was great. The narrators did an excellent job. I loved the dual dialogue.
Kandi, bodied this! Narrators, lend me your ears.
This love story was excellent. Our heroine is a focused go-getter who is not for the b.s. and our hero is a gentle-spirited football player who is shouldering the guilt of his past mistakes and a mental disorder all while pursuing a woman who hates his guts, with tenderness and patience.
🎙️Audio Review 🎚️
Here’s my outlier: this audio could have been better [in my opinion] if the male narrator wasn’t so.. so.. monotonous. Kandi wrote an awesome story but the male dialogue [for me] was indistinguishable from regular reading and glossed over. The inflections blurred into the story and didn’t reach me like I would have liked them to. I could also tell when the narrators were nearing the end of a paragraph or a chapter because they would rush into it almost as if to end their section quickly. It gave me ‘reading out loud in high school’ vibes.
Now, from a different perspective, I am happy that this young man did get a chance to be chosen for such a great book and he wasn’t bad… everyone has to start somewhere. Also, this is great for his catalog, but the way I’m feeling, the female narrator did a better job reading the female and male dialogues [in my opinion]. However, with practice and more reading gigs, he will improve his craft.

After listening to this book I love it even more. I mean I loved it when I read it. The narrators really brought the story to life and pulled me in.
One of my favorite genres, enemies to lovers. Who doesn’t love a good sports romance. These characters and this story were everything and more. Once I started Fair Catch I stayed up way past my bedtime. I devoured this book and can’t wait for more. This book has easily become one of my favorites by Kandi Steiner. Must read!
