Publisher Description
The planet Quinta is pocked by ugly mounds and covered by a spiderweb-like network. It is a kingdom of phantoms and of a beauty afflicted by madness. In stark contrast, the crew of the spaceship
Hermes represents a knowledge-seeking Earth. As they approach Quinta, a dark poetry takes over and leads them into a nightmare of misunderstanding.

Worth a Second Reading
I’ve only recently gotten into audiobooks and have found that a lot depends on the reader; more than you might expect. The subtlest nuances and mannerisms, a tendency to overact or underemphasize at the wrong point, can transform a personal favorite into an exercise in tedium.
Oliver Wyman’s reading of Fiasco suffers from none of these defects. Fiasco is a notoriously challenging book, at parts requiring considerable focus. Wyman covers these sections with just the right tempo, at times seeming to enjoy Lem’s occasional flights of incandescent bravura as much as any of his more devout readers.
After finishing this one, I was distinctly disappointed to find Wyman hasn’t read any of Lem’s other classics, which left Fiasco as narrated by him an audiobook experience of unique satisfaction for me.
