This lush, twisty, Victorian-style mystery blends crime, intrigue, and romance in a way only the author of Tipping the Velvet could manage. Mixed feelings
I enjoyed this book. This isn't a review of the story but rather this audiobook version itself. The voice actress was phenomenal. I have no complaints about her either. With the audio of this book, I am unsure if it is the editing or corruption, but portions often clip half a word or feel randomly sped up. My biggest complaint that compels me to write a review is that it completely cuts off the ending. It is missing the final chapter. For both of these complaints I had with the audiobook, I will add that I did try it on a couple of devices, so I am sure it was not just the way it downloaded or functioned on one device.
All in all good story. Great reader. I just wish it was the entire book. I would even graciously take the weird cut-off of words here and there, but please don't skip a whole chapter.
Cuts off ending!!
Don’t buy this. The last chapter of the book is completely missing. Also there are some glitches in the audio throughout which could be overlooked but having no ending is unacceptable. I will say the reader is fantastic!
