IT’S MURDER BEING A HIT-MOM
"Getting the job done" for one single mom takes on a whole new meaning in Finlay Donovan is Killing It, a deliciously witty adult debut—the first in a brilliant new series from YA Edgar Award nominee Elle Cosimano.
FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT . . . except, she’s really not. The new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head.
When Finlay’s overheard discussing the plot of her new novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet . . . and she soon discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
This madcap thriller from Elle Cosimano revolves around recently divorced mystery novelist Finlay Donovan, who is used to coming up with ingenious ways of hiding bodies. But the down-on-her-luck writer’s skills are really put to the test when someone overhears her talking with her editor and gets the wrong idea, offering her a job as a killer for hire. Cosimano never takes her foot off the gas as Finlay navigates the bizarre twists and deadly fun turns that follow. We loved this book’s perfect combination of over-the-top excitement and laugh-out-loud humor. (Aren’t you curious how Finlay gets herself permanently banned from Panera?) Narrator Angela Dawe captures the voice of the novel’s frazzled single-mom protagonist as she deals with shady mafiosi, a distasteful ex-husband, and dirty diapers. Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is a screwball comedy for the modern age and a fun murder mystery rolled into one.
Customer Reviews
Accidental murderer
A witty, clever whodunnit when the protagonist accidentally finds herself in the middle of an investigation and crime.
The narrator was excellent.
Light hearted fun and well read
Great twist on the typical murder mystery. Angela Dawe's narration is excellent. Her male voices are nuanced and authentic.
The writing is witty and the opening scene of single mom, Finlay getting her kids fed while simultaneously being late for a meeting is hilariously familiar.
As is usual the protagonist, Finlay Donovan is a bit dense in the face of obvious clues but her friendship with Vera and growth during this adventure are well worth a listen.
Great book
Great book, with humor amongst the suspense.
