The Old Dog is great!
I read the book 20yrs ago and then listened to the audiobook again recently. Dale Brown does a great job of building a world where you can relate to the characters. His tech is realistic, believable, and I believe holds up even decades after it was written. I’d still love to see a movie.
Wait a Second
I listened to this audiobook years ago back when cassettes were rampant. I bought this book for a long road trip and really enjoyed it. When this showed up on iTunes I figured it would be a good listen again. The narration is by a different actor than the original. This new guy's inntonations, emphasis, and tone are almost humorously bad. Wait until you hear his international accents. His Russian accent is a cross between Inspector Clouseau and Magic Johnson. Good story, but terrible audio narration. Why did they redo it?
Horrible!!!
I read this book many times when I was younger and again when I was in the military, I own every dale brown book with old General Elliot and mclanahan in it however at least a 1/4 of the book including most of the back stories and character breakdowns are not even in this audio version and is horribly done. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!! It is a horrible version, just buy the book and read it and truly enjoy it. I want my money back
