Almost single-handedly, John Flynn of the Australian Inland Mission brought to the outback the Flying Doctor Service, a non-profit organisation providing emergency and primary health care services for those living in rural, remote or regional areas – one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Flynn also brought many Bush Hospitals to the outback.
