Publisher Description
They first appear as a series of dots on astronomical plates, heading from Saturn directly toward Earth. Since the ringed planet carries no life, scientists deduce the mysterious ship to be a visitor from another star. The world's frantic efforts to signal the aliens go unanswered. The first contact is hostile: the invaders blast a Soviet space station, seize the survivors, and then destroy every dam and installation on Earth with a hail of asteriods. Now the conquerors are descending on the American heartland, demanding servile surrender - or death for all humans.
Customer Reviews
Poorly Done
Very difficult to listen to. The narrator has a terrible interpretation of the alien voices, sounds ridiculous and hard to listen to for longer than a few minutes and even harder to follow what is going on. The whole story is choppy and takes you from one scene to the next with no warning so you are trying to figure out what just happened. The characters are uninteresting and there is no sense of connection with them, they are two dimensional and have no depth. The dialogue is simplistic and often times doesn't convey the appropriate emotion or any emotion for that matter. The alien description sounds weird and hard to take seriously and it seems the characters have a similar response. Very hard to figure out what the astronauts are doing most of the time and what the purpose of anything at all in this story is. I keep hoping for it to either improve or just end.
