Love this start to the new series (And narration!)
A lot of tropes in this story- grumpy sunshine, age gap, forbidden romance (Phoebe's father is Asher's boss) and forced proximity (when Phoebe becomes Asher's nanny). But it works, probably because the characters are overall so likable, including the other people in the series who I hope to hear more about in the near future. Throw in a fair bit of humor, fun steamy situations, an adorable child (love the inclusion of sign language and also a well balanced "lesson" to readers about how important it is not to judge people when you don't know them) a fantastic reading by Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum (I would listen to ZW read anything!!) and I just had so much fun with this audiobook. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I would pick Asher any day!
Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels is the story of Asher, head of the county’s SWAT team and Phoebe, who is the daughter of the Police Chief. It is an enemies to lovers, age-gap, single dad and the nanny, secret sex only relationship, and forced proximity romance story. I listened to this audiobook and truly enjoyed it. Corinne Michaels always writes beautiful love stories with depth of feeling and real life issues. This book is full of conflict over the different places that the main characters are in their lives, both characters believing in the impossibility of their relationship until a surprise in Phoebe’s world alters everything. There are plenty of super steamy scenes for those who love that aspect of these books. Asher is a wonderful hero and a truly good man and excellent father. I would pick him any day, so it is no wonder that Phoebe fell for him! The narrators did an excellent job, making listening to this book a very enjoyable experience. This was the first book in a new series for the author, The Whitlock Family, and I cannot wait for book two! I recommend this audiobook for lovers of contemporary romance novels, especially for fans of the author as it is an excellent representation of her work. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook thanks to Valentine PR and Audible Audio.

I’m still in the early stages of my Corinne Michaels era, but I can say in all honestly that this is currently my favorite book of hers. I am an absolute sucker for single dads, the nanny, the cute kid… but she took it one step further by making Asher Whitlock the most desirable book boyfriend ever… I mean COME ON. I can’t say a whole lot on the subject without giving spoilers, but his decision towards the end of the book?? I need me one of him.
This was an audiobook read for me, and I can truthfully say that Corinne Michaels has some of the greatest audiobooks out to date. The narrators mesh well together, and I’ve yet to listen to one and think that anyone’s voice is annoying (which is a common occurrence for me lol). I can’t wait to continue reading books of hers (also if you have a chart of all of Corinne’s books… send it my way!!!) so that I can truly be immersed in her worlds, but all I know is she hit this one out of the park and I’m in love.
