Publisher Description
Frankenstein, written by British author Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, was first published in London in 1818.
Victor Frankenstein learns how to create life and creates a being in the likeness of man, but larger and more powerful than the average man. Frankenstein rejects the creature, and lives to regret his desire to create life, after it kills his brother William.
Frankenstein is a warning against the "over-reaching" of modern man and the Industrial Revolution - as alluded to in the novel's subtitle, The Modern Prometheus. Frankenstein has significantly influenced modern literature and popular culture, and spawned the "mad-scientist" genre of horror stories and films.

great! until...
The reading is great, totally unabridged and good vocals, however it only reads till chapter 10...i was pissed
Good reading, with one exception
A good reading, well paced, and well suited to the Gothic style of the prose. Frankenstein's hypocrisy and intellectual cheapness is even harder to put up with out loud and over a period of nine hours, but that's again suitable to the material and probably as it should be.
The one major drawback to this recording is the reader's rendering of all the female characters' dialogue in a high, lisping, caricatured, and frankly ridiculous attempt at imitation. Pro tip, Mr. Hill: no woman on earth sounds like that. Thank God.
