Publisher Description

Magic is twisted, and chaos reigns in this climactic final novel in the Crescent City trilogy by award-winning author Kristen Painter.

New Orleans is on the brink of war.

Harlow is a ghost in her own body. She has no control, no power - all she can do is watch as her twin sister, Ava Mae, lives recklessly and foolishly, slowly destroying everything Harlow has worked so hard for.

Augustine needs to focus on his new role as Guardian of New Orleans, as tourists mysteriously disappear off the streets, but all he can think of is rescuing Harlow - keeping his family safe.

As the Coven grows more powerful, control of the city hangs in the balance, and if the witches prevail, no fae will survive.

Fantastic city and dreamlike places

I’ve had this book for a long time now and bought the audiobook when it came out. The reason I waited so long to read/listen is because it is my favorite series by the author and for some reason, being so good, I wanted to savor it. I know that sounds so crazy but I couldn’t bare it being over. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I wish I had more. The ending was perfect. I loved the main characters. In the first book, I would get so aggravated at Harlow for being so standoffish. I still liked her character but I wanted her to imbrace her Fae side. I understand why she was like she was, I would be too. Over the course of the books, she really came out of her shell. I love watching her grow. I wasn’t sure how in the world the author was going to solve all the problems and predicaments going on in the book. They seemed impossible, but as always, she brought it all together seamlessly. As dreary as the place Olivia is in, it was also so fantastical and magical. This whole book makes me want to go back to New Orleans. Augustine was my favorite. And Fenton. Their jobs were a world in themselves. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’ll just say, I love how the bad guys and evil were defeated and how all of them got what they deserved.

The narration was the best! I love this narrator and will listen to this over and over. There is no better person at doing the accents. I recommend this series to anyone ad can’t stop singing it’s praises. I haven’t finished the Comarre (spelling?) series this is a spin off from, but I can say this can be read/listened to without having read that one. I’ll be listening to this again after reading the Comarre. I’m sure it will bring a richer meaning to it all. I wish this narrator narrated the other though.
