“I used to be a lesbian.”
In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?
At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel.
Listen in order to understand. Listen in order to hope. Or listen in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Audio is amazing!
I purchased the hard copy of this book a few months ago and due to the craziness of life, I only got 4 chapters in before stopping. Before I could get back to reading it, a friend recommended the audio version due to Jackie’s spoken word-like delivery. The hard copy was great but this is one book I would recommend the audio to over the written version. JHP’s writing style, poetry like delivery, and ability to use imagery are all top notch.
Gay Girl, Good God is exceptional!
I learned so much about SSA and what not to do if I wanted to help someone turn from a sinful life to one which glories God. I learned what the focus should be for all sinners when turning from sin, because we are all sinners and the focus for us is the same - God and giving him our lives completely so He can heal it holistically. Thank you, Jackie Hill Perry for sharing your story. To God be the glory.
