Robert Zimmerman’s GENESIS: The Story of Apollo 8 becomes immediately relevant and accessible in this expertly written account. The miracle of this 1968 American dream, set in a tumultuous era not unlike that of our contemporary 2018 reality, is a refreshing breath of hope, reminding us of the power of the human spirit when focused on a shared vision. As one who understands little of the mechanics of space travel I found the book hugely fascinating in its detail both of the personal lives and machinery involved. The stakes couldn’t have been higher and the achievement couldn’t been greater and Zimmerman couldn’t have recounted it all more viscerally. Highly recommended.
