girls like girls was one of the first gay love songs i ever heard and i fell i love with hayley from then on, she had helped me through the beginning stages of accepting myself. i loved the video and the difference from everything else that was available at that point, when i saw the announcement of the boom i hoped for an expansion of the story in the music video and the book was not a disappointment, you can tell that hayley put in so much thought and care to flesh out and devolve the characters and the narrative. all and all it is a unique and beautiful story.

i watched the music video for this song around the time it came out, about 8 years ago when i was only 12 and immediately fell in love with it, and reading this book just made me fall further in love with the story of coley and sonya. hayley did an extraordinary job with capturing the small details from the music video and adding each and every one of those details into the book. i read the whole book in less than a day so please read this book if you have not yet. i also highly recommend watching the music video too
