Entertaining and fun monster romance

Guarded by the Nightmare is a fun fantasy world with Monster smut. It’s book 8 in the Monster Security Agency series, with each book written by various authors. Monster romances is one of those tropes that is so fun and very forgiving. One needs to suspend belief and go in just having fun. Mina is out for revenge on what the fraternity did to her friend and herself. And she will sell her soul and life to contract with Silas, a nightmare monster, to seek her revenge. But she must pay the ultimate price. The attraction between Mina and Silas is palpable. But in the end, he needs to unalive her, taking her heart for payment. What a dilemma as these two fall deeper for each other. There’s a complex story that unravels near the end and will have you intrigued. The smut level is high. I mean, monster sex is pretty creative so anything goes. Because of his smoke-like nature, Silas can shape himself into many things, like multiple tongues and fingers. And your mind can take it from there!
Johnathan lake is so good as Silas, the nightmare. He has a great variety of voice ranges for the college guys, which were a perfect opposite to his deep low, growly Silas. Avery Caris narrates Mina and has a damsel-in-distress quality to her narration which works well for Mina’s character. I did feel that as the story progressed and Mina got stronger Avery could have shed that a bit more so her voice didn’t have as much angst as she grew into her power.
Overall, this was a very entertaining listen and I look forward to checking out the other monster books in this Monster Security Agency series.
