Perfect Conclusion
A fantastic conclusion to the mini-trilogy!
The Best of the Three
Truly impressed with Karen Traviss’s ability to improve upon the series as she continued to write. Important note for those listening to the audiobooks of the Kilo-5 trilogy, she utilized third-person narration, first-person speech, and first person inner monologue in a way that was probably obvious on paper but less so through audio. I recommend listening to these books at a slower pace, such as 1x speed instead of 1 1/4x, in order to better sort these differences out through context. Enjoy!
Fantastic book with 1 gripe
This is the 3rd book by this Author Ive read/listened to and she does incredible work. Compelling story and great dialogue. She hasn’t really included any action or battle scenes in her halo books that I know which is weird but its still very interesting. My only complaint is that Naomi is a Spartan II. This whole emotional soul searching thing with her past and family is cool but ridiculous for her generation of Spartan family. They’re indoctrinated and augmented from childhood far more than any other Spartan gen (even III’s although they start as children too). There is no “oh I feel so many things. My feelings blah blah” in a spartan II. Master Chief had what could have been an emotional moment with a childhood friend in another book, who he saved from drowning when they were kids and agreed to marry (in a little kid way) when they were older and she actually still held on to that memory as an adult and during that brief meeting with John what did he do when he recognized her? Chose duty over sappy reunions because thats what Spartan II’s do. Anyway long story short, loved the book and would recommend it to anyone but would’ve been perfect if Naomi was a Spartan III or something instead. Maybe the one exception in that generation that wasn’t an orphan. Any made up explanation would be better than her being a II
