Beautifully narrated version of a dark story
This is a beautifully narrated version of one of Dickens’ shortest major novels. The reader’s light, crisp tone works well with the dark, spare text and his Lancashire dialect is not too thick, even when speaking for the textile factory workers, to be hard to understand.
Hard Times is another classic from the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People). I own several and they have all been high quality narrations at attractive prices. Given that no computer text reader can make sense of Dickens’ eye dialect, these audio books are very welcome.
Hard Times
With the exception of "Christmas Carol" this was my first Dickens book and I enjoyed it so much I'm now ordering my next one. Alistair Maydon did a superb narrating job and I found each of his characters memorable because of the reader's narrating skills. The story was clear, the writing brilliant and the whole audio book experience delightful for me as a first timer.
Hard Times
Charles Dickens is one of my favorite authors. I do not have much time to sit and read these days with 4 kids that are very involved in activities. I listen to the book when I am driving by myself to pick up kids. I have also taken to listening at bedtime, as I am too tired to read at the end of the day.
The narration is superb and of course the storyline keeps one in suspense, as all of Dickens' writings do.
Keep up the good work and I will be downloading more of these aps.
