Another fun read by Lauren Blakely. We have grown to love the wittiness of the characters while they are navigating through their feelings for each other. There is a twist in this book that I found to be refreshing and fun to read. This book is from Patrick’s point of view but we also get the perspective from an unexpected source. I would love to tell you about it but it would spoil the surprise.
Patrick is the owner of an outdoor company that takes clients on outdoor retreats. He is ready to settle down and go all in with a relationship. He has grown his business to be on both coasts and enjoys being outside on his days off. Avid outdoors men.
Meet Mia owner and founder of Pure Beauty. She is a lover of animals and strives to help wherever she can. Mia lives on opposite ends of the country and is guarding her heart after a bad experience with one of Maxx’s friends.
These two have been friends for a relatively short time. So, we don’t have the second chance type book this time. The commentary in Patrick’s head was a hoot to read and had me wanting to just smack him upside the head. Lauren continues to amaze me in her writing style and how effortlessly these books flow with the banter, sexual innuendo and everyday situations that help the reader be part of the story.
There are also glimpses into our favorite past characters to let us know what has been going in their lives even though it is just a small glimpse. If you are a diehard Lauren Blakely fan or just getting started this is the perfect installment to read. The surprises are fun and Patrick is my kind of hunk. Happy reading.

Yum, Hard Wood. Doesn't that title just grab your attention? Well let me tell you the entire book will keep your attention from beginning to end then you will be sad it is over. I am a Lauren Blakely fan girl so I love every book she writes but this one was special to me. Patrick and Mia are a fun couple and they both tie back to other characters from past books that we loved and this book gives a chance to catch up on our beloved friends. This is laugh out loud funny, sexy, hot as hello, and a few surprises that will totally make you grin from ear to ear. I was given a copy of the ARC to voluntarily read this book and give my honest opinion. I think this was my favorite of this stand alone series and trust me I loved them all. You don't have to read the others before this one as it is a stand alone but you will want to as they are all great. I highly recommend this book.
