Harriet Lerner on Mothers and Daughte
I I recently lost my mother to Covid after she spent a week completely alone in the hospital. I was her sole caretaker for years after she developed dementia,, and always promised her she would die at home like she wanted. I’m 66, first born , my mom was 89. She had a horrible death which we witnessed in the hospital. I miss her so much and can’t get over it. It’s been six months and I’m still suffering, and think about it all the time.
This book was one of the best books I’ve ever read about mother daughter relationships, and I was glad to hear a different perspective. I also love this authors way of writing. She writes in the way that feels like she’s just sitting there talking to you instead of a rehearsed dialogue. I recommend this book highly highly highly. And I intend on reading a lot more of her books.
