Raw… next question.
I don’t usually care for romance novels told from one perspective, but the audiobook being told in duet was lovely. I liked the FMC quite a bit but the MMC was an absolute treat. If you love sad boys you’ll probably like this book. I love sad boys and I think Hawke is awesome.
I wish this was my intro to Jescie Hall. The first I read from them I nearly DNF’d (might have been in the wrong headspace for it) but I’m so glad I didn’t write them off completely. This book was spicy, engaging, relatable, and really satisfied that sad boy itch in my brain.

LITERALLY GET IT NOW!!
I hesitated on this one, I won’t lie, it’s not in my normal dragons-assassins-shadow daddy genre I’d go for… but gurrrl, when I tell you Hawke had me in a chokehold from daY ONE?? Two hands and no remorse because both the book and this man had me feral till the very end. Jescie wrote WONDERFULLY and my God the narrators were amazing as always (PS I’m def in love with you, Joe Arden)!! If you’re hesitant, don’t be. JUST GET IT.

I believe I have fallen in love with Hawke. SO scandalous! Love that shouldn’t be happening but does, Right in front of him, but he was too naïve to realize. Love it!!
