While H. P. LOVECRAFT filled many of his stories with projections and elaborations of his personal fears, antipathies, fragments of dreams, etc., few can be considered genuinely autobiographical. This is one of the few, for the opening is based upon his own feelings about his stay in New York City, as well as reflecting on his life.
