Publisher Description
Please note: In addition to the novella Heart of Darkness, this audiobook also includes a short story featuring the character Marlowe, "Youth", which takes place before Heart of Darkness. "Youth" is the first story in the audio.
"A weary pilgrimage amongst hints for nightmares." This is how Marlowe describes his journey into the Belgian Congo in Heart of Darkness. And while Europeans go mad, corporations turn tyrannous, and the legend of a great ivory hunter is dangled before him, Marlowe observes everything with a keen eye, as we journey with him into the heart of darkness.

BE SPECIFIC!!!
They should make it apparent the book does not start until TRACK 5!!!!!!!!! I sat for over a hour of listen to 4 other tracks. When I could’ve been further!!!
There are two stories in this audiobook.
There are two stories in this audiobook. Heart of Darkness is the second story, it is why the other review said it did not follow the story. They did not relize the mix up. Heart of Darkness starts one hour and twenty three minutes into this book or chapter 5 or track 5. geez
Well read
After previewing several audio versions of Heart of Darkness, I chose this one based on the narrator's voice. Unlike some other versions, the narration does not come across as dry or pompous. It is appropriately dramatic without descending into melodrama. He varies his voice and accent based on the character speaking. This works well most of the time, although it sounds a little silly when he narrates the lines of Mr. Kurtz's "intended" in a feminine voice. Overall, I was very satisfied with this audiobook. As another reviewer noted, a short story entitled "Youth" precedes Heart of Darkness (as in the case in most print versions). But in the audio book, it is not clear that "Youth" is a separate story and not the first chapter of Heart of Darkness, which does not begin until about an hour and twenty minutes into the audiobook. This should be mentioned somewhere in the product information for listeners who are not already familiar with the book. Also, the artwork that shows up on the screen in I-tunes is a bit 'halloweenish,' but that is a minor detail.
