deliciously voiced narrators that take the characterization to the next level
Updated review! When three of my favorites (author Jackie Walker, narrator Troy Duran, & Home Cooked Books) collaborate to celebrate a new audiobook, there's no reason not to have super high hopes!
One of my favorite things in life as a reader is when I actually LAUGH OUT LOUD while I’m reading. It feels so stinkin’ good! Jackie Walker is such an amazing story teller. I’ll say it again in my review, but her characters’ voices speak clearer to me than maybe any other author. And all the feels at all the surprising moments—I’ll for real laugh out loud on one page and be tearing up or straight up crying on the next page.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 First-person dual POV—such great characterization: you know them, feel them, hear them, and definitely want to touch them.
🤩 Perfectly cast and definitely deliciously voiced narrators that take the characterization to the next level. What phenomenal romance audiobook entertainment!
🤩 Fabulous MCs: “burly, tatted, former Army Ranger bodyguard hero & neurodivergent heroine”! 😍
🤩 Romance Suspense—if you’ve been wanting to try one, I highly recommend it! All the feels you are looking for (love, longing, lust, & laughs) PLUS CLIMAX! Sorry, I can’t think of any good L words for suspense/thrill and I just can’t help myself. There is climax of all kinds in this beautiful story.
🤩 Chapter Titles—I know some of you are hoping for some chapter titles in your life.

🤩 Second chance romance in such a clever and interesting plot.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 Creepy cabin in the woods—okay, actually an amazing cabin in the woods, but pretty creepy feels. I’m such a wimp—I definitely read past my bedtime all the way to the end because there was no way I was going to sleep with those cabin feels going wild. But, oh wow, was that cabin worth it! There was steam coming from every room in that cabin!
The narration is perfection!

Savannah and Troy were impeccably cast as Sue and Leo.
Savannah's narration had the exact amount of sass and quirkiness needed to let Sue's relatable personality shine.
Troy's deep, smoky voice as Leo was the perfect balance of commanding alpha and comforting warmth.
The narration was top notch and I recommend this audiobook for anyone who is a fan of romantic suspense!

A Gripping & Emotional Romantic Suspense! Great Story & Narration🎧
I enjoyed this romantic suspense, the story is original with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. The opening scene when the two lead characters, Sue O’Malley and Leo Mason, first met is hilarious. Leo works for Redleg Security and hired as Sue’s bodyguard. The job did not last long, but the two hit it off and it left an impression on both of them. She fell for him and thought he felt something for her, but he only broke her heart. When he moves on to his next assignment, he gets a cryptic message, and it is a threat targeting someone he cares about, Sue. Leo was worried that his past would come back to haunt him, which is the reason he did not allow anyone to get close to him, except that backfired with Sue and someone knew that. He rushes to get to Sue and takes her to a safe location while his team investigates to find who is making the threats and why. I loved how everything played out in this book and that it was not your typical bodyguard/client story. The writing, plotting and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Sue’s quirkiness and wit were refreshing, and I thought she and Leo were great together and for each other. In this story, you'll find drama, angst, humor, witty dialogue, twists, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and a steamy, slow-burn but so worth the wait, romance. Jackie Walker, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Savannah Peachwood and Troy Duran did an amazing job bringing these characters and their story to life. Their portrayal of each character was spot on and they were believable in every role they played. Sue's character is captured brilliantly by Peachwood, emphasizing her charming quirks and blunt honesty and ability to talk things out. Duran also nailed it as the swoon worthy Leo, the lion heart, brings out his protective side and his vulnerable side. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.
