Publisher Description

A serial killer is hunting the Pacific Northwest, murdering victims in a gruesome and spectacular way. The local police suspect “monsters” are involved, and have called in Anita Blake and Edward, U.S. Marshals who really know their monsters, to catch the killer.

But some monsters are very real—and even to speak their name can earn you a death sentence. The bogeymen of the vampire world, The Harlequin, are here in America hunting weretigers and human police. But Edward thinks the serial killings are just a trap—to lure Anita ever closer to the most dangerous vampire they’ve ever hunted…

Back to Basics

I liked this book but felt like it ended too soon. It was like the first set of stories written in the series. I liked that there was more plot and less "love". I would recommend this book only because it really does capture the heart of who Anita is.

Back to the heart

I REALLY enjoyed this one !!! It brings the series back to the heart of ANITA. I was happy that there was less "love scenes" in this book. I recommend this one. Kimberly Alexis makes Anita alive again and keeps the action real.

Written not audio

I'm sure the written version is better, at least it won't have a very annoying narrator and I'm hopeful it doesn't have as many "I said" and "He said" and "She said" in it. I'm not sure how to put it nicely but between the narrator and all of those this is one of the most annoying LKH books ever and I've read all of them and loved them or at least been able to find a redeeming quality in each.
