How Lucky

A funny book that delivers a suspenseful story.

Boring and depressing.

I am a student at UGA which initially drew me to this book and have heard good things about it. I listened to it on a long drive and I don’t even know how to describe how tremendously disappointed I was. Every other chapter holds a random tangent stream of consciousness that does not add to the plot whatsoever and gets increasingly frustrating. The plot itself does not redeem these chapters as every single choice the protagonist makes is nonsensical and counter intuitive to anyone that has just witnessed a crime. I genuinely cannot think of a single likable character who helped this book rise from its abismal string of poorly thought out one liners and poor decisions. I forced myself to finish in case the ending was any better but shockingly since the author chose to spend 20 chapters on random facts about the main characters disease he did not have time to wrap up any loose ends and it finished in a hasty and uninspiring manner.
