That stammer. Those basset-hound eyes. That bone-dry wit. There has never been another comedian like Bob Newhart. In this, his first audiobook ever, Newhart gives us his brilliant and bemused twist on a multitude of topics, including flying, the trials of a family holiday in a Winnebago, and more serious subjects, such as golf. And, of course, there are side-splittingly funny stories from his life and career. Who else has a drinking game named after him? ("Hi, Bob!")
This isn't a memoir like most memoirs. It's an audiobook only Bob Newhart could have conceived, with his unique worldview and irrepressibly wry humor. Oh, and there's a fair bit of plain silliness, too.

Good book - but you have to like the comedians style
I personally had not heard of this guy before but decided to give it a shot since he was listed a big comedian of his time. Maybe I am too young to enjoy the half-conversation phone bits but his speech mannerisms and pacing was so slow and stammered that I had to listen to this at 2x speed just to let him get a thought out in a reasonable time. I get that it is part of his schtick but it was painful for me to listen to at the normal rate. Reminds me of my grandpa trying to tell a story but keeps forgetting what he is about to say. That being said - it is a good book and worth the read and glad he voiced it himself so that we could get the experience of who he is as a comedian.
Great in Bob’s Own Voice
I read this book with great enthusiasm and joy, but there is something considerably better to hear Bob in his own voice and with the award-winning stammer.
King of timing-we want more!!
This should be required listening for aspiring comedians. Listening to Mr Newhart retell some famous comedic acts, historical events in his life and shows is priceless. I have listened to every bio in the entertainment genre and this was one of the best. Be patient at first; that is what he does best- draws you into the story.
