When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.
At least, he's not a beast all the time.
As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever.
From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking series that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable listen.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
High-stakes magic and red-hot romance jump-start the first installment in this epic fantasy series. When desperate young hunter Feyre Archeron kills a wolf that turns out to be magical, she must pay the price: leaving behind her starving family to become a prisoner in the dangerous world of the faerie. But this supernatural realm is far from what Feyre had imagined. Everything about the faerie life is rich and enticing—especially her ever-changing feelings for her masked captor, the High Lord Tamlin. Sarah J. Maas’ resourceful heroine definitely doesn’t need rescuing, and we loved following along as she takes up the quest to free her strange new homeland from an ancient curse. With a full voice cast, dramatic sound effects, and a lush soundtrack, A Court of Thorns and Roses takes you to a sensual world bursting with complexity—and unbridled lust.
Customer Reviews
Glad I read the book first
I’m listening to reread the series. I love the story, I love the series, I love the characters. I do not like the narrator for Feyre, if this was my first introduction to her, I would find her weak and annoying. I liked hearing multiple people be the voices for the multitude of characters. Do this if you have already read the book.
Loved all the background noises
Really helped visualize the story. Loved the voice actors, everything sounded great! Overall good story, look forward to the rest.
The Audio Edition That Brings Prythian to Life
I already loved this book in print, but the full cast audio edition? It takes the experience to a whole new level.
The full cast narration is everything. Having different voices for different characters really brings the story to life in a way that a single narrator—no matter how talented—just can't match. Each character feels distinct, real, and fully realized. You're not just hearing someone read a story; you're experiencing it.
And the sound effects are done so well; they add this immersive layer that pulls you deeper into Prythian. When there's tension, you feel it. When there's magic, you're surrounded by it. When there's action, you're right there in the middle of it. It's like listening to a movie unfold in your mind.
The different voices really help with the world-building too. With so many characters and so much going on, having distinct voices for each one keeps everything clear and makes the world feel bigger and more alive. Feyre, Tamlin, Lucien, Rhysand—they all have their own voice, their own presence, and it makes the story richer for it.
If you've read ACOTAR in print and you're wondering if the audio is worth it—it is. If you haven't read it at all and you're trying to decide which format to go with—do the full cast audio. It's the kind of listening experience that makes you want to sit in your car long after you've arrived at your destination just to hear what happens next.
