Publisher Description
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty.
Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust.
Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.
Even if it means keeping a secret so big, it could destroy everything.
They need an army. They need power. They need magic. And they need the one thing only Violet can find—the truth.
But a storm is coming...and not everyone can survive its wrath.

Onyx Storm felt incredibly personal to me as a reader. By the time I reached this book, I wasn’t just following a story, I was emotionally invested in every thread, every character, every quiet hint that something bigger was coming. Rebecca Yarros writes with such intention here, weaving future consequences into the present so seamlessly that even after reading the series ten times, I still keep discovering new clues. That kind of storytelling doesn’t just entertain, it invites you to stay, to look closer, to care deeply.
What makes this book even more special is the community it’s created around it. Sharing theories, obsessions, and tiny details with other readers has become part of the experience for me. The Empyrean series isn’t something I read alone, it’s something I live alongside others who feel just as intensely about it. That sense of connection is rare and incredibly meaningful.
The character development in Onyx Storm truly shook me. Watching these characters evolve emotionally, mentally, and morally felt raw and real. Their growth isn’t easy or comfortable, and that’s what made it hit so hard. The plot progression felt deliberate and powerful, leaving me both satisfied and slightly undone in the best way.
And once again, GraphicAudio made this story unforgettable. The performances, music, and sound design deepened every emotion and made the world feel alive around me. Listening felt immersive and intimate, like I was standing right there with the characters as everything unfolded.
The only critique I would add, and it comes from a place of pure love, is that I wish the GraphicAudio version were released at the same time as the book. For me, the Empyrean series simply isn’t the same experience without Gabriel Michael and Khaya Fraites. Their performances have become inseparable from these characters, and waiting to hear their voices feels like waiting for the story to fully come alive. The series hits differently with them, and I can’t imagine experiencing it any other way.
I truly loved this book. Onyx Storm didn’t just move the story forward, it deepened my attachment to it. It challenged me, surprised me, and stayed with me long after it ended. This is the kind of book that becomes part of you, and I’m endlessly grateful for how deeply it made me feel. 🖤🐉✨
I honestly don’t how I’m going to survive the next book… 💔
