Maggie Cole continues to wow me with another amazing “Mafia Wars New York” novel, a romantic suspense that delivers a punch right from the start and keeps them coming all the way to the end. This second book in the series is Gianni Marino and Cara Serrano’s story, Gianni is the second son of the Marino crime family in NY, born several minutes after his twin brother, Dante. Gianni and Cara have what seems like a lifelong on and off again love/hate relationship. But Cara had had enough of Gianni’s antics and womanizing ways and wants nothing to do with him anymore. And then she turned to the wrong man, an Abruzzo, a rival mafia member and an enemy to the Marinos. The book starts out with a heart pounding scene, Cara has gotten herself in a dangerous situation and it is up to Gianni and his men to save her from her demise. Once he gets her to safety, he carts her off and because of Mafia tradition to keep her safe, he marries her and, despite not wanting to marry him; she knows he is right. But the Abruzzo’s never play fair or honor Mafia traditions and her ex, Uberto, is out for blood and not just Cara’s blood. There is never a dull moment in this book from the rescue to the dynamic of their relationship, Cara’s insecurities, Gianni’s determination to show her she is his only one, then there may be a traitor in the ranks, problems with law enforcement, and then an all out Mafia War with the Abruzzo family. Maggie Cole, thank you for another exciting and brilliantly plotted story and a wild and thrilling emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Aaron Shedlock and Stella Hunter are the perfect cast to bring this story and characters to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the character to sound. I loved how they took each role, ran with it and made it their own. Aaron Shedlock nailed it as Gianni, he is very convincing alpha gangster. Stella Hunter’s Cara was amazing, she brought out all her strengths and was not afraid to show her angsty insecurities. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every
