Implicate Orders: A Future History (Unabridged‪)‬

Right now, a secretive group of technologists and mystics are growing the Nexus—an invite-only cognitive enhancement system that genuinely delivers clarity, connection, and purpose to its members. It will end in a chaotic mass-casualty event witnessed by millions on live television—and set in motion what may be humanity’s final transformation.

What follows is a future history spanning thirty-five years, narrated by a man who watched from the edges as networked minds outgrew the individuals who hosted them. As cognitive networks reshape societies, economies, and consciousness itself, a question that once seemed merely philosophical—what is a self?—becomes the most urgent problem on Earth.

Implicate Orders is speculative fiction for fans of Le Guin, Lem, and Chiang—a novel that interweaves story and philosophy in the tradition of Pirsig, following one life from the familiar anxieties of the 2020s to the threshold of something genuinely alien.

Originally published as a serial in five parts, this edition collects the complete novel.
