Publisher Description

On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force—and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy.

Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency. The leader of a fanatical cult, obsessed with traveling beyond the reaches of known space, is bent on opening a cosmic gateway using dreaded dark matter as the key—risking a cataclysmic reaction that will consume the entire star system. But more shocking to Lanoree than even the prospect of total galactic annihilation, is the decision of her Je’daii Masters to task her with the mission of preventing it. Until a staggering revelation makes clear why she was chosen: The brilliant, dangerous madman she must track down and stop at any cost is the brother whose death she has long grieved—and whose life she must now fear.

XanderLore ,

It’s good (read this)

I just want to point out since no one else seems to know, that before the Jedi and Sith their was an order of force users known as the Jed-hyi that used both light and dark (Ashla and bogela) sides of the fore. She’s not saying Jedi wrong because she’s not saying Jedi.

Despite the bad faith criticism, the book is still bad

I get that it’s 25,000 years ago, and that they’re not called “Jedi” yet.
I’m not critical of that.
The book has two issues that make it bad though:
1. It’s poorly written.
2. The concepts are poor.

There’s just a lot in this book that conceptually feels very out of place, even for an early history Star Wars setting.
Star Wars certainly can manage to be fantastical at times, but this book definitely feels like it was originally meant for a Tolkien-like setting, and then forcefully converted.
My personal theory is that this was originally a Spelljammer campaign or something, rejected, then converted sloppily into a Star Wars novel.
Tales of the Jedi comics aren’t perfect, but you do get a sense that the artists and writers wanted it to feel old. Into The Void just feels like they didn’t care at all and threw everything at the wall.

Definitely expected more

Good to fall asleep to it’s slow. But did have a little pizazz but honestly not much at all.
