Publisher Description
This is an Apple Books audiobook narrated by a digital voice based on a human narrator.
The story is set in Eastern Europe during the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and is based on the life and work of Berta Friedberg, who wrote under the pen name Isabella Arkadyevna Grinevskaya.
Berta was raised in Grodno by her father, the Jewish writer Avraham Shalom Friedberg (1838–1902). She grew up in an environment rich in spirituality, philosophy, and a passion for writing. Over time, she became one of Russia's most important playwrights, poets, and authors. Her work "Bab" received special praise from the renowned author Leo Tolstoy, and two of her seminal pieces were dedicated to the leaders of the Baha'i faith.
Isabella was an adventurous and self-confident woman, driven by a strong belief in women's rights. This conviction made her a leading figure in the feminist movement of her time.
