APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Queen of suspense Mary Higgins Clark’s tense whodunits and compelling love triangles always draw us in, and I’ve Got My Eyes on You is a superb example of why. An unsupervised high-school party turns deadly when graduating senior Kerry Dowling is found facedown in her family pool, bludgeoned by an unknown killer. As Detective Mike Wilson’s investigation—and his connection with the victim’s grieving older sister, Aline—heats up, fingers start to point all over their close-knit suburban enclave. Clark’s masterfully intricate world-building and knack for twists are elevated by narrator January LaVoy’s keen pacing and empathetic character voices. Shifting effortlessly to convey dread at one moment and a romantic spark in the next, LaVoy brings Kerry’s friends and neighbors vividly to life, making Higgins Clark’s neighborhood feel as familiar as our own.

Story was great! Narrator was not.
I loved the story! Normally, I’m not a mystery person unless I’m watching a movie or tv show because I have a difficult time concentrating and end up overlooking important plot points. I purchased the audio book and the story was very intriguing, well-written, and kept me hooked from start to finish. I really thought the character development was good; all of the characters seemed to have their own personalities. I loved how the story went on and little bits of the mystery slowly came to light, making me guess “who dunnit” constantly. Overall, it was a great story and the ending was not revealed too early, which would have made the rest of the book unenjoyable.
However, the narrator for the audio book tried way too hard to do different voices for each character, which only resulted in all the women sounding the same, and all the men sounding like, well, a woman trying to lower her voice to sound husky and manly and it was incredibly irritating. The only times I appreciated the effort was of her portrayal of Jaimie, and the teenage girls. She was very good at that. The rest just sounded awful but the story was great!
I love this book
Mary is amazing author. This book was amazing the mystery was so intense. They were so many people you wanted to say they did it but the twist was the amazing part. I couldn’t put down this audiobook. I even listen to it when I got home that’s how good this book was! I’m going to continue to order her books. I recommend you try one of her books at least.
