The work tells the story of Jane's early life, her experience at Lowood School and as a governess. Her refusal to accept Rochester's love on any but her own strictly moral terms is a passionate cry for independence.

Wonderful story, Wonderful Reading
I loved this reading of Jane Eyre. As this book is one of my favorites, I would have been disappointed if it was not read well. I have purchased several audio books and I have found narrator Juliet Stevenson to be one of the best. She more than just reads a story, she makes each character come to life and in this case, I especially like her reading of Mr. Rochester. I also recommend her reading of 'North and South'. Enjoy :)
This is one of my favorite stories, and I love audiobooks, so this rendering was a find for me. Ms. Stevenson's reading of all the characters is sensitive and intelligent. Her readings of Jane and Mr. Rochester are especially and, of course, crucially, perfect. I bought a cheap recording on ITunes and can't even stand to listen to it. One star missing because it's impossible to hear young Jane at Gateshead.
This reading of Jane Eyre is the most beautiful reading I have ever experienced. She reads it exactly like I hear it in my mind when reading alone. I don't think even Charlotte Bronte could have matched this glorious preformance. Excellent!!
