Publisher Description
The skies over ancient Rome blaze with terrifying portents, and soothsayers warn Julius Caesar of approaching doom. As conspiracy swirls through the city, Shakespeare explores the deep repercussions of political murder on the human heart. A classic tale of duplicity, betrayal and murder, masterfully performed by an all-star, all-American cast in this BBC co-production.

Kelsey Grammer, Richard Dreyfus, and Stacy Keach peform Julius Caesar
For some reason, iTunes does not point out that this rendition of Bill Shakespeare's famous work is performed by quite the cast.
This audio performance imposes a sense of darkness almost beyond the words of the text, which was actually a lot of fun. Many of the lines are whispered. Stacy Keach in particular does an excellent job of interpreting Brutus as a politically divided, dark soul. The overall effect is a swirling, macabre portrait of politics, omens, and fate.
I agree with other reviewers that the lines are delivered quite quickly. Had I not been following along with the text to study for my Shakespeare class, I would have been lost. However, utilizing the recording as a supplement to the text, it made the play much more enjoyable than simply reading the book would have been.
And this also happens to be the cheapest audio version of the play available. It's well worth $4.
The audio is not crisp in this recording, however. Minus 1 star.
