NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Republic has fallen. Sith Lords rule the galaxy. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi has lost everything . . . everything but hope.

Tatooine—a harsh desert world where farmers toil in the heat of two suns while trying to protect themselves and their loved ones from the marauding Tusken Raiders. A backwater planet on the edge of civilized space. And an unlikely place to find a Jedi Master in hiding, or an orphaned infant boy on whose tiny shoulders rests the future of a galaxy.

Known to locals only as “Ben,” the bearded and robed offworlder is an enigmatic stranger who keeps to himself, shares nothing of his past, and goes to great pains to remain an outsider. But as tensions escalate between the farmers and a tribe of Sand People led by a ruthless war chief, Ben finds himself drawn into the fight, endangering the very mission that brought him to Tatooine.

Ben—Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, hero of the Clone Wars, traitor to the Empire, and protector of the galaxy’s last hope—can no more turn his back on evil than he can reject his Jedi training. And when blood is unjustly spilled, innocent lives threatened, and a ruthless opponent unmasked, Ben has no choice but to call on the wisdom of the Jedi—and the formidable power of the Force—in his never-ending fight for justice.

A slow start, but a very good book!

This book has an awesome voice actor, and encapsulates Ben Kenobi’s story while still being new to Tatooine. It has an extremely slow start, which is the only reason it’s a 4-star rating. Besides the slow start, the book is near perfection. I would recommend it to people who really want to learn about Kenobi and/or are patient readers!

The Force is strong with this book

Kenobi is quite possibly my favorite Star Wars novel to date. In fact it may possibly be my favorite book of all time.

John Jackson Miller wrote the characters the best I have ever read in any Star Wars novel. It was so easy to get into them and it felt like you really knew them. It also gives you an even better look into Kenobi like you have not quite seen him before. You get to see how he's really like as Ben, and at the same time see how he's never able to stray from being Obi-Wan. This book also goes much deeper into the Tuskan Raiders and gives them so much more character than you have seen in Star Wars. The book also really takes you into Tatooine. You will feel like you are right there, and it really feels like it has an Episode IV feel to it which I was thrilled about.

I decided to purchase this one on audio and I am very glad that I did. The biggest reason I decided to purchase this one on audio though is because it was UNABRIDGED. Sometimes if you purchase an abridged version it can sometimes cut 3/4 of the book out.

If you have never purchased a Star Wars audio before I highly recommend going with this one. Besides having the book read to you, it is filled with the great Star Wars music from John Williams. On top of that it is also filled with official Star Wars sound effects. Jonathan Davis did an absolutely excellent job reading the book and had different voices for every character, and his voice for Kenobi was also excellent. It really sounded like a McGregor/Guinness combination. All of this combines to make the Kenobi audio an experience that takes you the closest you can get to watching a movie without actually watching it.

Also, if you are new to Star Wars books and have never read one before this is a perfect book to get yourself started into the Star Wars expanded universe.

Give it a couple chapters to flesh out the other characters and the setting. Then it realistically brings Kenobi into their lives in a way that keeps to his necessity of keeping a low profile in the dawn of the new empire. Well worth my time and money. Thanks for writing this book!
