Publisher Description
A tragedy, a comedy, and a history all rolled into one, the story of the tyrannical Richard III ranks among Shakespeare's most popular plays. Opening with the famous "Now is the winter of our discontent" soliloquy, this masterful work follows its antihero as he plots to steal the throne of England, causing murder and mayhem all along the way. A full cast, including Robert Stephens and Dame Peggy Ashcroft, brings this devilishly entertaining work to life.
Customer Reviews
Richard III
As is the case with most of the Shakespeare productions featured on I Tunes, the performance itself is satisfactory but the fact that one pays $12.95 for a production at least 30, probably 40 years old, is ridiculous. It's better than nothing at all if you don't have access to a recording of the performance. I purchased it - because I wanted a recording to contrast with the other production I own. Throughout, you have to put up with the abysmal sound quality and the fact that there are no divisions for Acts and scenes (the most basic courtesy that could be extended on behalf of the recording company). Really, we should expect far more than this. . .
