Last Enemy

Last Enemy is a science fiction story by H. Beam Piper and is part of his Paratime series. A dinner party is given by Garnon of Roxor. The festivities are a voluntary suicide gathering. Garnon has been planning his for years, but has decided to proceed now, to help the scientific experiment of Dallona of Hadron. Following Garnon's death, someone begins to channel his spirit, giving evidence that disincarnate individuals are fully conscious and capable of telepathic communication… This is only the beginning and the premise of an astonishingly intricate tale!
