Publisher Description

Francesca "Franki" Amato is a straight-shooting rookie cop in Austin, Texas, until an embarrassing 911 call prompts her to take a job at her best friend’s PI agency in New Orleans. But Franki soon learns that solving crime in The Big Easy is no Bourbon Street party. Case in point, her first investigation involves the murder of a beautiful boutique manager who was strangled with a cheap yellow scarf, and her primary suspect is her client. When Franki’s not on the clock, she hopes to get cozy with a handsome bank executive named Bradley, but her meddlesome Sicilian nonna has other ideas about who she should date. As Mardi Gras approaches and the boutique mystery deepens, Franki must decipher the odd ramblings of a voodoo priestess, or she could end up single - and the next strangling victim.

A fun mystery

This audiobook is one that will have you chuckle, roll your eyes, and wanting to meet Franki, our protagonist. And if like me, you like to travel, the descriptions of New Orleans, or NoLa as the natives call it, will have you wanting to explore this lovely unique, enigmatic and colorful city. I know I was ready to go back !

Franki has left Austin after a short time in the police force (that scene is quite funny!). She moves to New Orleans to work in her girlfriend’s detective agency, “Private Chicks, Inc”. There , her first case is a woman strangled by a yellow scarf and the prime suspect is her boyfriend. Not a likeable character.

What I enjoyed most was the cast of characters. These include, an ex-stripper, her Italian family, especially the Nonna , and the potential love interest, a bank president.
If you like Janet Evanovich’s books, you will surely enjoy this audiobook.
A good debut story for Ms. Andrighetti.
