I've been a longtime fan of feehan, ward and others but this is by far my favorite story and author. Great story, losts of twists and turns, loved the narrator. More please!!!

Give it a chance...

Ok, unlike some other reviews, I'm actually an IAD veteran so this is the 10th (if you don't count novellas or other collaborations) novel. So those that are new to the scene just honestly might not get it and can kind of get lost in Kresley Cole's world.

I have another audio book read by the same narrator for the first of this series and actually…I think his ability to grasp the accents is not bad at all. If you think about where Lothaire is from, his accent completely makes sense. Come on people he's the Enemy of Old, he's ancient, Dracula's afraid of him (Or he would be if he was even in this series)! So of course he's going to have an old-world accent.

Because I've read all the books the phrasing doesn't bother me. Again, you have to pay attention to the timeframe the story is taking place. They talk old fashioned? Well DUH, when he's flash backing to his past it was EONS ago.

My one complaint literary wise is I don't think our 'hero' ever really does say 'I'm sorry.' He does some pretty awful things and you want to forgive him, but he has to ask for it and want to do better, but you don't walk away from the book confident that he's learned his lesson. It's something that's still bothering me, which is why it wasn't a five star rating.

So my advice is this, do yourself a favor and get your feet wet before tackling this book or very little will make sense. And, while I am also a Black Dagger fan…you can't possibly compare these two series together.
